Breakfast with my Dear Friend Janet N.

Yesterday was the Phoenix Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. It was an amazing event. I was a bit apprehensive because it has been hot outside and I wasn't sure how I was going to do but I'm thrilled to report the run was wonderful. We started at 8:20 so it was still fairly cool outside and we were fortunate enough to have a bit of breeze. I ran with two friends, Robin and Shaunna, and having their company made it even better. I finished my 3.1 miles in just over 38 minutes and felt amazing (and after only 6 hours sleep!). Here is a photo of us just after we crossed the finish line.

Tomorrow Shaunna and I are going to begin training for our next event, a 10K in the spring!

And, now to explain the subject line...a friend of mine works for Governor Napolitano and organized "Team Governor" for the run. After the run I called to see if she wanted to join us for breakfast and she said that she would and asked if I could hold on for a second. After a moment or two she got back on the phone and said, "Meet me at The Good Egg at Park Central. And, the Governor will be joining us." Yes, you heard me right; we ate eggs with Governor Napolitano! It was totally cool. She is very down to earth and quite funny. There were just nine of us so it was quite intimate. It was a wonderful way to end an amazing morning.

That is so COOL that you had breakfast with J-Nap!
I wish we had a cool governor here.
Anyway, congrats on doing so well on the run.

Thanks, Ann. I was in Sacramento for the day last Wed (for work) and almost bought Casey an Arnold bobble head from the airport. I told Janet N. that I saw the Arnold bobble head and she said that someone wanted to make one of her and she said that she wouldn't let them until after her term is up!

Did you enjoy your b-day?
