Hell in a Handbasket

Our world is going to hell in a handbasket. I cannot believe this!

School Expels Girl for Having Gay Parents
Fri Sep 23, 7:05 AM ET
ONTARIO, Calif. - A 14-year-old student was expelled from a Christian school because her parents are lesbians, the school's superintendent said in a letter.

Shay Clark was expelled from Ontario Christian School on Thursday.
"Your family does not meet the policies of admission," Superintendent Leonard Stob wrote to Tina Clark, the girl's biological mother.

Stob wrote that school policy requires that at least one parent may not engage in practices "immoral or inconsistent with a positive Christian life style, such as cohabitating without marriage or in a homosexual relationship," The Los Angeles Times reported in Friday's edition.
Stob could not be reached for comment by the newspaper. Shay and her parents said they won't fight the ruling.

School administrators learned of the parents' relationship this week after Shay was reprimanded for talking to the crowd during a football game, Tina Clark said.
Clark and her partner have been together 22 years and have two other daughters, ages 9 and 19.

Fuse Away!

Several weeks ago Casey told me that he was planning a surprise evening for us and that I was to keep the evening of September 20th open. He wouldn't tell me what we were going to do, but told me to dress casual. Well, last night was the 20th and I'm happy to report that we had the best time cooking Asian Fusion food at a demonstration kitchen at a local Viking showroom. The company Casey works for owns the building where the Viking showroom is located and when he was doing some work on the building he met the chef who runs the classes.

We, along with two other couples (Robert and Leah were one...for those of you who know Robert and Leah...they were in on the surprise and kept their lips sealed right up until the very last minute...I think they are better than I at keeping secrets.) made pot stickers with a sauce, spring rolls with two dipping sauces, pork tenderloin with a peanut sauce/rub, spicy noodles and chocolate pie for dessert (not Asian but yummy nonetheless). The food was great (I particularly like the pork with peanut sauce) and it was a lot of fun. Thanks, Casey!

Painful Things Women do to be "Beautiful."

My friend Ann recently posted a blog about a woman trying to wax her bikini line... herself...at home...while her kids slept...

It was hilarious and painful to read and made me think, "why do women have this obsession with removing all traces of body hair?" I'll admit that I am indeed one of those women who hates body hair. I have dark hair and have been shaving my legs every day for as long as I can remember. Thankfully Costco carries Skintimate by the caseload!

Last year, for the first time, I had my eyebrows professionally waxed and I loved it. It didn't hurt and my eyes looked so much better..bigger and better framed. Now I think I am on the road to becoming a waxing junkie. I want to get my bikini line waxed (eek!)...I don't know that it is something I'll necessarily do on a regular basis, but I want to try it at least once. My sister did it and said it was no big deal. However, my other sister got her legs waxed and said it hurt more than childbirth!

Comments from the peanut gallery would be much appreciate. Let me know about your personal waxing stories...and try not to scare me too much...thanks in advance...

OH MY God... A New Post?!?

Yes, believe it or not I am writing a new post. I really want to be better at this but it just isn't in me. My friends Ann and Jen are so good at keeping their blogs updated. Since Jen left her job at the Arizona Republic she often blogs 2 or 3 times a day! And, she is often feeding her readers tidbits of information about our imbecile president and his staff...it is great fun to read her blog! Ann's blog often has a food and wine theme and I love that. By reading her blog I almost feel like I am in California with her! Speaking of...

Casey and I went to California for vacation and had a wonderful time. We spent three nights with our very generous friends Ann and Curt, and one night in Sacramento with my dear friend James Lovera. The trip was perfect...fun with friends, great food and great weather (except that it was a bit cold for this Arizona girl). Oh, and except for the tailbone incident, but that is another story. If I can remember how to post photos to my blog, I will post a few photos from our wondrous weekend.
